Trip Overview
The Tennessee Mountain trip is the next step up for returning LOWA adventurers. Set in the same stunning Savage Gulf State Natural Area as the Boulder trip, this experience swaps car camping for multi-day backpacking -- carrying everything you need on your back as you move through the backcountry.
Campers hike 4-8 hours per day with a full backpacking pack, navigating trails along cliff edges, past waterfalls, and through dense forest. This trip builds real backcountry skills: route planning, water purification, campsite selection, and Leave No Trace principles.
Like the Boulder trip, the Tennessee Mountain trip includes a day of river tubing in Chattanooga -- a well-earned reward after days on the trail.
What You'll Do
Multi-Day Backpacking
Carry your gear through Savage Gulf's backcountry, setting up camp in new locations each night and living off what's on your back.
Backcountry Navigation
Learn route planning, map reading, and trail navigation as you move through Tennessee's wilderness.
River Tubing
Spend a day floating down the river in Chattanooga -- the perfect way to relax and celebrate after days on the trail.
Advanced Wilderness Skills
Water purification, campsite selection, bear safety, and Leave No Trace principles for the serious outdoors person.
